If you have the dough, you can now officially own the world's fastest bike - the Suzuki Hayabusa. Suzuki Motorcycle India has finally decided to treat Indian biking enthusiasts with its iconic super sports tourer in September this year. Though long in the pipeline, the launch is now official with Atul Gupta, VP, Sales and Marketing for Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd. saying, "We will launch the bike around."
But don't expect that the streets will be teeming with Hayabusas, for the bike will be imported. And Suzuki is well aware that the Hayabusa is not going to help them garner market share and is expecting the bike to sell about 400 units in a year. But what the Hayabusa will do is to boost the Japanese company's brand image in the coun- try leaps and bounds. With the launch of the Hayabusa, Suzuki will join other bike majors like Yamaha and Ducati who have brought their superbikes to India.
And with the Hayabusa, Suzuki is best placed to outrace these, for the bike needs no introduction to India. Sporting a 1340cc four-cylinder inline engine putting out a mammoth 190PS, the Hayabusa is a bike every teenager grew up desiring. And Suzuki is not stopping at just bringing the Hayabusa to India. It will soon be followed by the next best thing in Suzuki's stables, the GSX-R1000.
